W Hotels Worldwide, part of Marriott International, has redefined the hospitality scene of one of the most cosmopolitan destinations in the world with the opening of W Shanghai – The Bund.
The hotel reinterprets the captivating contrast of Shanghai’s past and its avant-garde present with its electrifying design, defining expectations by breaking the norms of traditional luxury.
Developed by the acclaimed G.A. Design and perfectly positioned in the heart of the city, W Shanghai – The Bund showcases an exciting architectural mix, a blend of bold design and decadent style, which draws upon colonial glamour and futuristic motifs.
“We are infusing so much energy into this city with our new hotel,” W Shanghai – The Bund general manager Christian Humbert said.
“We are bringing guests closer to the music, design, fashion and Fuel (the brand’s take on fitness) scenes in Shanghai while providing our signature Whatever/Whenever service, delivering whatever guests what they want, whenever they want it, in this incredible city.”
With a mission to fuel guests’ lust, W Shanghai – the Bund offers five intriguing settings which prominent chefs and ‘cocktail professors’ use as a playground for branching out and pushing boundaries.
The brand’s Whatever/Whenever service caters to the guest’s appetite for a fine dining experience with modern spins on classic Shanghainese dishes and contemporary renditions of Cantonese traditional cuisine.
Pre-dinner cocktails, in a hidden speakeasy, will transport guests to the glamorous golden years of Shanghai’s 1920s while the playfully elegant bar near the hotel’s pool provides a romantic background with incredible sweeping views of the electric Shanghai skyline.
Situated between the Suzhou Creek and the Huangpu River, the hotel features 374 stylish guestrooms and suites, with nearly every one featuring limitless views of the Huangpu River due to the uniquely curved frame of the building’s structure.
Thirty-five of the rooms are suites, including the Cloud on the Bund, which includes a striking LED wall and a hanging bed, while the duplex Extreme WOW Suite offers more than 300 square metres of living space, along with a hanging neon installation in the shape of lips blowing out dragon smoke.
Innovative, inspiring and infectious, the brand’s super-charged energy creates a unique, opulent experience by doing what Shanghai does best: fusing China’s rich history with stylish contemporary touches.
W Shanghai – The Bund is the flagship hotel that marks the brand’s first in Shanghai and third in China with ten hotels scheduled for China by 2019.
