W Brisbane’s uber-cool floating cinema experience

Stylish five-star hotel W Brisbane is set to make a splash this March as it transforms its famous WET Deck pool area into an exclusive first, floating cinema.

The riverside hotel – known for creating unique and playful experiences –  is taking a new approach to the idea of open-air cinemas by inviting guests to come in their swimsuits or resort wear and enjoy their favourite flick while floating on an inflatable pool recliner lounge.

The new ‘Float In Cinema’ series will run across five weeks, starting on Tuesday 25 March, and continuing every Tuesday night until the 24 March. Keeping with the theme, each movie on the program is renowned for having an iconic water scene, kicking off with Baywatch on launch night and The Notebook the week after.

During the movie, a ‘flirty fusion of cocktails’ will be on offer, slotting nicely in built-in cocktail holders, along with a selection of tasty cinema snacks. But don’t worry you won’t have to awkwardly stumble off your floating chair to get your snacks; orders will be taken poolside and delivered via floating trays.

With WET Deck being the luxurious and eclectic aquatic playground that it is, movie-goers will be invited to come early (or stay late) for dinner and drinks. The outdoor terrace is the perfect place to watch the sunset over the Brisbane River.

Guests will be requested to take their pool seats by 7pm ahead of the 7:30pm movie start time. Those that feel like taking a dip in the pool are more than welcome; plush towels will be provided for drying and warmth.

Tickets start from $25 per person and you’ll need to get in quick to secure a spot. Rain, hail or shine this ‘open-air’ event can go on with a rooftop in place to protect you from the elements!
