Hurtigruten’s grand old lady, MS Lofoten, which celebrated her 50th anniversary in 2014, will be celebrated on her voyages from April 2015. The ship’s classic characteristics will be accentuated throughout her journeys, offering guests nostalgic experiences such as fishing directly from the ship, then enjoying your catch at dinner time.
This small, agile veteran of the seas can navigate waters others can’t, bringing her guests closer to the action and to the magnificent scenery on her coastal voyage between Bergen and Kirkenes.
And it is the scenery that is the star of this part of the world, with Lofoten and her sister ships on the ‘Classic Round Voyage’ visiting Nordfjord, the Art Nouveau town of Ålesund, either Geirangerfjord or Hjørundfjord (depending on season), the Viking-founded city of Trondheim, the Arctic Circle, Ørnes, the Lofoten Islands, Tromso, the North Cape and the heartland of the Sami people. The range of excursions is almost as impressive as the scenery. Go in winter and you might even see the Northern Lights.
