Ultra-luxury cruise line Seabourn has unveiled details of its two new purpose-built expedition ships. Seabourn Venture is set to launch in June 2021, and the second yet-to-be-named ship will launch May 2022. Built by T. Mariotti, the ships will combine the best of the cruise line’s signature ultra-luxury features with purpose-built expedition features. Excitingly, each ship will carry two custom-built submarines on board, which will offer guests an unforgettable underwater experience. They will also carry a number of kayaks and Zodiacs.
Details of the new ships’ public spaces were recently revealed, with Seabourn announcing that they will feature an Expedition Lounge, Discovery Centre, Landing Zone and Atrium, all crafted by renowned designer Adam D. Tihany. The Expedition Lounge, which features custom-designed furniture, will offer guests a warm and relaxing space to unwind in. It’s where guests meet before and after expeditions, to exchange adventure stories over a well-deserved drink.
The Discovery Centre will serve as the on-board education hub. Here, guests can enjoy insightful lectures, briefings and Seabourn Conversations led by wilderness experts, scientists, historians and naturalists. These are sure to be immersive and engaging experiences, aided by the 2.5m high and 10m wide high-definition screens housed in the Discovery Centre.
The Landing Zone, or mud room, is a functional space that serves as the launch and recovery point for landings. The generously-sized space provides ample room for adventurers to change and clean their gear.
Details of the new Seabourn expedition ships’ itineraries are to come.
