Tropicola to open on Bali beachfront

The first stage of Bali’s newest luxury hotel, Tropicola, is set to launch in August on the stretch of Seminyak Beach known as the Golden Mile. The multi-stage beachfront development will also include a restaurant and rooftop bar, located near to W Bali-Seminyak, Potato Head Beach Club and Alila Seminyak.

It’s this idyllic proximity to the Indian Ocean that one of the directors, Brett Robinson, says offers guests the promise of carefree beach days and the chance to relax and recharge.

Tropicola: a taste of the tropics
Robinson says the venue has been years in the planning, with the first stage kicking off in August 2018. He says the next two stages of the hotel will include a 60-seat restaurant by chef Steve Skelly, followed by a rooftop bar and event space with vast, uninterrupted views spanning from the Bukit Peninsula all the way to Tanah Lot. Completing the development will be a 60-room hotel bringing fun, affordable and accessible luxury to the island with rooms from $100 a night.

“Tropicola combines the team’s years of excellence in hospitality with memories of travels around the globe. Tropicola is our nostalgic tribute to places both real and imagined, representing a homage to more carefree and excellent times,” he says.

James Brown, the designer behind the hugely successful Motel Mexicola, is also adding his touches to Tropicola where the vision includes a “nod to nostalgia and old-school beach club vibes”.

“Tropicola will rise up from the beachfront in a riot of colour and movement. The beach club will be the place to get a tan, relax in the in the sun, people-watch, sip on great cocktails and dine all day long as music fills the air and the best staff on the island flit and flow from table to table and sunbed to sunbed,” Brown says.

Brown believes the beach club will hit the right note with its year-round summery soundtrack designed to evoke simpler times. “Picture panoramic views of the Indian Ocean combined with tropical cocktails and fresh fruit set to the summery soundtrack of groovy tunes and laughter. Complimentary sunset drinks are just one of the rituals that will set Tropicola apart and ensure that guests make the fondest of memories at this home away from home,” he says.

The restaurant, guided by chef Steve Skelly, will also adhere to the relaxed vibe and simplicity and bring guests a menu strewn with woodfired grills, fresh seafood, grilled meats and market-fresh vegetables. Guests have a choice for drinks with three separate bars spread throughout the hotel. tropicola.info
