Tourism Fiji’s Australian Regional Office has been named ‘Best Tourist Office – International’ at the National Travel Industry Awards (NTIA) 2016.

Organised by the Australian Federation of Travel Agents (AFTA), the NTIA Gala Dinner is the tourism industry’s event of the year, recognising its best and finest individuals and businesses across 38 categories for their excellence and contribution to the industry.

Over the past three years, Tourism Fiji has successfully launched its new brand in market, organised more than 180 national roadshows and events, a record of 650 industry familiarisation trips to Fiji, and coordinated six major television productions. All of this combined with an increase in media exposure, has resulted in a year on year increase in tourist numbers from Australia, generating a whopping $229.6 million in tourism revenue for Fiji in 2015.

Commenting on the achievement and prestigious win, Tourism Fiji’s Australia regional director, Carlah Walton comments: “Our team has worked tirelessly to raise Fiji’s profile as a preferred holiday destination in a highly competitive market and to win this award shows how hard the team has worked in Australia to forge industry relations and goodwill on behalf of all Fijians.”

Finalists in the ‘Best Tourist Office – International’ category included Tourism NZ, Dubai Tourism, Singapore and Hawaii.
