Travel on Q, specialists in tailor-made itineraries to Bhutan, is conducting a wonderful textile tour in October 2016. Hosted by Christina Sumner OAM, the 12-night tour departs Kolkata on 13 October with an English-speaking guide and a local textile guide, in a private vehicle with a professional driver. Christina is a textile specialist and formerly principal curator at the Powerhouse Museum in Sydney where she worked with the decorative arts and design collections for 28 years.
The tour includes a hands-on textile class and demonstration in Thimphu as well as experiencing two important festivals, Jambay Llhakan and Prakhar Duccheod, and sightseeing to places such as Thrumshing La National Park, home to west Bengal tigers, Khoma, the best known traditional weaving village in Bhuta and  Lhuentse, home to the spectacular 17th century Rinchentse Phodrang Dzong.
A visit to Bhutan is a truly mystical and peaceful experience with its colourful festivals, stunning mountain scenery, pristine forests and rushing rivers. A land of ancient architectural traditions and Buddhist rituals and beautiful friendly people.
