The Zin House, Mudgee

Authenticity, generosity, and quality – this is what you will experience at The Zin House, a cosy farm house restaurant overlooking Lowe Wines’ Zinfadel vineyard.

Owner and chef Kim Currie’s honest approach to food combined with her passion for fresh, seasonal, and local garden and farm produce, has seen the restaurant take out its first Chef’s Hat in the 2016 SMH Good Food Guide Awards.

Sitting on an organic and biodynamic farmland, everything that lands on your plate is locally and sustainably sourced, starting with the impressive herb and veggie garden outside from which Kim herself hand selects the day’s freshest pickings.

Inside, the warm, wood interior is inviting and homely and you can watch Kim and her team work in the open kitchen, grabbing and chopping rainbows of fresh produce.

The menu is set to a five-course dinner, a five-course lunch on weekdays, and a six-course lunch on weekends, and is designed to showcase the local produce, straight from the garden and farm to the plate.

To get the most out of the experience, I recommend the impeccably matched wine flight, which features Lowes Wines as well as other leading Mudgee producers.

No pretentiousness, no complex arty-farty constructions, just honest country food, prepared fresh from scratch and kept simple so it can speak for itself and do what’s it meant to, which is nurture.
