Perched atop Uluwatu’s dramatic cliffs, overlooking the glistening Indian Ocean, The Clubhouse at Ulu makes for the ultimate Balinese escape.
Recently launched by Boutique Asian hospitality group M. Group, the new design – which features a blend of contemporary sophistication and tropical flair – was created as a sister property to the award-winning Balinese beach club, Ulu Cliffhouse.
It is set up as a collection of seven stunning, individually-appointed suites, each named and inspired by the seven legendary surf breaks that surround the property. This includes Padang Padang, Impossibles, Racetracks, Dreamlands, Lakeys, Playgrounds, Yoyos and The Peak.
Inside, each individual suite is designed with plenty of space and a distinctive personality so that guests can feel at home in their own luxury hideaways. Rooms are painted with pops of colour and decorated with nomad-inspired artwork and 1950s California style furnishings to really accentuate that beach house vibe. They also come with freestanding baths, their own cocktail bar and even private bartenders.
Guests will also have access to a private members’ lounge, a Clubhouse bar and either in-suite or poolside spa treatments. In addition, they will be able to access the island’s premier beach club, Ulu Cliffhouse: a 25-metre infinity pool, world-class dining experiences and an exceptional music programme. The ambience is all about tropical Balinese soul meets iconic 1950’s California surf culture and the glamour of Palm Springs.
The idea behind The Clubhouse at Ulu is to ‘innovate and surprise’ which means turning traditional hotel expectations on their head and creating more memorable experiences. For instance, rather than the regular front desk check-ins, guests receive in-suite of clifftop welcomes organised by their own Clubhouse ‘host’.
According to Ben Jones, CEO of M. Group, guests should expect service that is “consistently warm, discreet and bespoke”.
With more than 10 years’ experience in Asia and an internationally-acclaimed portfolio, that includes, Ulu Cliffhouse, Mandala Places, Berawa 9 and Singapore-based Oxwell & Co and Operation Dagger; M.’s vision is to redefine the full potential of extraordinary hospitality and lifestyle, without compromise. And there certainly doesn’t seem to be any compromises to be made at The Clubhouse at Ulu.
