The doors have opened for Brisbane’s newest four-and-a-half-star hotel – the first Australian property for the Swiss-Belhotel group.
Situated in South Brisbane, the Swiss-Belhotel is well located to either business or pleasure, close to Southbank Parklands, Qld Performing Arts Complex, the Brisbane Convention & Exhibition Centre along with the Gallery of Modern Art and QLD Museum. The Goodwill Bridge, a pedestrian and bicycle bridge, allows easy access to Brisbane’s CBD – there’s a coffee shop half way. For sporting fans, the Gabba is a mere 10-minute walk.
The hotel’s 125 rooms have been decorated in a modern style. Guests have free Wi-Fi, a gymnasium, indoor-heated swimming pool, large corporate lounge, two meeting rooms and secure on-site parking. I loved my balcony room with its beautiful views along the Brisbane River, the city’s skyline and Story Bridge.
While several rooms have kitchenettes, cooking was not on my agenda and I was pleasantly surprised by the fare at Café 63 – the on-site restaurant. It’s open for breakfast, lunch and dinner with an incredible array of delicacies incorporating local produce. There are signature dishes, room service and take-aways available. With your Di Bella Coffee, you receive a bottle of water and for the romantic at heart, there are fresh flowers for sale every day in the café.
The Swiss-Bel Group has since opened in Sydney and plan more openings in Australia. Belhotel, means beautiful hotel and if their first opening in Brisbane is anything to go by you can be assured a comfortable, welcoming and memorable stay.
