Shangri-La has made its second debut in Harbin, China’s fabled city of ice, with the opening of Songbei Shangri-La.
Located on the shore of the Songhua River’s north bank in the heart of historic Songbei’s business district, the new property is a convenient five-minute drive from the internationally renowned ice festival at the Ice & Snow World. Other attractions in the surrounding neighbourhood include the Sun Island Garden, Siberian Tiger Park and Harbin Great Theatre.
“We are proud to welcome travellers to Harbin with Shangri-La’s heart-warming hospitality and we look forward to unveiling new lifestyle experiences and inviting the community and international visitors to enjoy our blend of tradition and modernity in Harbin,” Songbei Shangri-La general manager Tyson Wang says.
The 344-room property features contemporary guest rooms and suites affording uninterrupted views of the city and river through floor-to-ceiling windows. Designed with a palette of tranquil hues and local art pieces, each living space offers mood lighting, a spacious marble bathroom, walk-in wardrobe and free WiFi. There are also 33 executive serviced apartments for longer-term guests.
Luxury and comfort is taken to the next level with the Lilac, Songbei and Shangri-La suites, located on the top floors. As the hotel’s largest suites, they are ideal for family or business entertaining. Meanwhile, the Horizon Club Lounge offers extra privileges to Horizon Club and suite guests such as express check-in and check-out, complimentary breakfast buffet, all-day refreshments, evening cocktails and concierge service.
Dining options include signature restaurant Shang Kitchen offering traditional Chinese cuisine such as Peking duck, clay pot dishes and northeast regional specialties, Café Song featuring interactive theatre kitchens, international buffets and blackboard menus, specialty bar De Drunk’n Pig, and the Lobby Lounge providing an elegant venue for high tea, light bites and all-day refreshments.
The Health Club features a fully equipped gym, indoor swimming pool, Jacuzzi, sauna and steam rooms, while pampering treatments drawing on traditional Chinese philosophy provide a therapeutic escape at CHI, The Spa.
Songbei Shangri-La opens 18 years after the hotel group first debuted in Harbin with Shangri-La Hotel, Harbin, in 1999. It is just 40 minutes from the international airport and 30 minutes from the Harbin West Railway station.
