A multi-million-dollar refurbishment has transformed Silver Cloud into an ice-class vessel, soon to be unveiled as the most luxurious expedition ship in the world.

Destined for the Arctic and Antarctic, Silver Cloud will proudly join Silversea Cruises’ exclusive expedition fleet on 15 November 2017, where she will commence her official inaugural voyage with her strengthened hull.

Silver Cloud’s new hull provides the combined strength and manoeuvrability required to explore polar waters and will allow her to navigate through ice floes and pack,” Silversea Cruises managing director Asia Pacific Amber Wilson says.

“She will also offer new standards in luxury, style and comfort and some of the largest suites available in expedition cruising, and with a guest capacity of just 200 in polar-regions and 254 in non-polar regions, she will offer the highest levels of personalised and attentive service with a one to one staff to guest ratio.

“The limited capacity will also allow our guests to disembark at the same time to fully explore each region.”

The ship’s new navigational equipment includes state-of-the-art Sonar and Thermal Imaging equipment, and a system to navigate at slow speeds in the presence of ice, allowing for navigation in polar regions.

Guests will enjoy a Polar Sea Kayaking Programme with dedicated kayak guides, and fully-escorted shore programmes including Zodiac exploration in some remote destinations.

Additionally, The Explore Lounge has three large screens and high quality audio-visual equipment for daily briefings, and a bespoke Photo Studio so guests can edit and print their images.
