The Royal Davui Island Resort, off the Coral Coast of Fiji’s main Island Viti Levu, is one of the world’s best private island resorts. With 16 adults-only villas nestled in between jungle foliage and perched on hillsides with jaw-dropping views of the South Pacific Ocean or the island’s own beaches and coral reef, privacy is assured.
We were treated to a luxurious Premium Pool Villa; with a dual split level between a generous master bedroom, private sun deck and infinity plunge pool. Our large bathroom had a retractable starlight sky ceiling and a Jacuzzi big enough to warrant a life guard. High ceilings in the living room and polished floors add to a stylish ambience with rolling glass doors sweeping open onto a large verandah where private breakfasts or a spectacular sunset dinner can be served upon request.
The island is perfectly located for all water activity, including sailing, paddle boards, diving and snorkelling, deep sea fishing, shark feeding or reef surfing. Or a private picnic can be arranged on an idyllic beach or on a private sand cay, accessed by launch transfer.
The island’s main restaurant sits like a tree house under a huge 150-year-old banyan tree, where daily fare is served with the freshest ingredients and an extensive international wine list. All levels of accommodation are enticing and each villa has an infinity pool with multiple seaside decks for a beachside breakfast. The cliff-perched Royal Davui Plunge Pool Suite is the largest villa on the island with a private indoor garden, two decks and a plunge pool.
Sadly, we only had three days to enjoy Royal Davui and my only recommendation is to find a week.
Royal Davui has a high percentage or returning guests, and this is the real mark of any resort and the highest compliment to staff and management. By any definition,Royal Davui is a paradise for the body and soul.
