An icon of Sydney’s northern beaches, Jonah’s Whale Beach offers high-end, boutique accommodation and an exceptional dining offering. Perched atop a hillside with unparalleled views of the ocean, Jonah’s delivers a tranquil and indulgent sea-side experience. January 2019 marked 90 years of operation for the boutique hotel, cementing it as a true legacy on Sydney’s coast.
Jonah’s Whale Beach delivers an intimate accommodation experience, offering a total of 11 rooms – each with views of the Pacific Ocean. 2018 saw a refurbishment of all the rooms, undertaken by interior designers Baxter + Thrum. Inspired by the coastal surrounds, the rooms feature a light and neutral colour palette. Tasteful decorative elements and curated artworks feature throughout that help to blur the lines between outside and in. Premium furnishings in the rooms include hand-crafted and custom-made furniture, as well as AH Beard World Luxury Series beds, in which guests are sure to enjoy a good night’s sleep, waking to the refreshing sea breeze that drifts through the balcony door.
The Hatted and award-winning Jonah’s restaurant offers a fresh and dynamic menu. It’s recently been re-designed under the guidance of Executive Chef Matteo Zamboni, Restaurant Manager Mauro Ferrari and Head Sommelier Niels Sluiman. The new menu features both a two- and three-course offering that reflects Zamboni’s Italian background and uses premium Australian and imported ingredients. Nothing short of indulgent, the menu features dishes like casarecce pasta with spanner crab, roasted cherry tomatoes and spicy prawn oil to start; Milanese crumbed veal, cherry tomatoes and grilled lemon for a main; and a refreshing coconut tapioca pudding with passionfruit and coconut sorbet to finish.
The Jonah’s Whale Beach signature Frutti de Mare seafood platter for two remains on the menu, as always served on a three-tiered timber and slate stand.
Head Sommelier Niels Sluiman has carefully curated a varied wine list, which has won multiple awards and accolades. An accompanying wine is offered with each meal, designed to enhance and complement its flavours.
Jonah’s is currently offering a luxurious Stay & Play package, in which guests can experience the highlights of the hotel, its restaurant and surrounding areas. At $898 per person, twin share, the package includes overnight accommodation, three-course a la carte dinner in the restaurant, full a la carte breakfast, as well as a two-hour yacht cruise on Pittwater with a pre-packed Jonah’s picnic lunch.
