Luxury French cruise line PONANT, is expanding its fleet with the order of four new ships, with the first delivery expected in 2018.
The new ships will join the cruise line’s iconic sailing yacht Le Ponant and its state-of-the-art sister yachts, Le Boréal, L’Austral, Le Soléal and Le Lyrial.
In keeping with the PONANT style and philosophy, the four new expedition yachts will be small-capacity, intimate ships, with 92 staterooms and a crew of 110, and will be equipped with the latest environmental preservation technology.
The designer interiors will be decked out in beautiful driftwood, natural materials and colours, reflecting the spirit and sophistication of the adventures and destinations to come.
As a leader in five-star expeditions to the polar regions, PONANT’s new expedition ships will be able to reach sites that larger vessels cannot access, hosting a range of unusual itineraries and getting as close as possible to local cultures and rare nature.
Combining an exclusive blend of luxury with exceptional destinations, Blue Expeditions will explore the lagoons and secret islands of Oceania, while Green Expeditions will voyage through some of South America’s best preserved sites, including Orinoco River in Amazonia, Costa Rica, Papua New Guinea, or the Indian Ocean.
