Parisian high tea in Sydney at Sofitel Darling Harbour

For a touch of joie de vivre in Sydney as we work our way towards spring and summer, French-inspired Sofitel Sydney Darling Harbour are letting a little stylish ‘mouse’ loose in their Atelier restaurant on the third floor.

The ‘mouse’ in question is of the illustrated variety, a much-loved children’s book character Claris the Mouse, created by Australian fashion illustrator and children’s book author, Megan Hess.

Drawing inspiration from the acclaimed children’s book character, Claris, the Chicest Mouse in Paris, Sofitel Sydney Darling Harbour and Megan Hess have partnered to create this limited-season high tea, which will run every Saturday afternoon from 1-4pm until 13 October 2019.

The Claris the Mouse High Tea menu has been created by Sofitel Sydney Darling Harbour’s head pastry chef, Puti Firmansyah. Together with the rest of the Sofitel Sydney Darling Harbour team, the restaurant will be transformed each Saturday into a pretty-as-a-picture space of tea cups, pink roses and blooms, pastries, macarons and even a chocolate fountain that drips decadently atop a trolley cart ready to go with marshmallows, churros, strawberries and beignet fried dough.

Megan Hess, who has partnered with such powerhouse brands as Dior, Chanel, Louis Vuitton, Prada, Tiffany and Cartier, was inspired to combine fashion with compassion in presenting the tale of Claris who, while she may love fashion, is also brave, smart and kind in the Paris-set storybook.

Whether you are visiting with five-year-olds or 55-year-olds, guests will undoubtedly love the elegant and chic presentation of all the delicate pastries, served on limited-edition fine porcelain Claris plates with matching cutlery. Grown-ups can also enjoy French sparkling wines, or choose from a tea menu that includes Moroccan mint, chocolate tea and pink flamingo tea.

The Claris the Mouse High Tea at Sofitel Sydney Darling Harbour is priced at $69 per person ($35 for children 11 and under) and includes free-flowing tea and coffee, pink lemonade for younger guests, a selection of savoury and sweet treats, and a chocolate fountain. Younger guests attending High Tea will leave with a Claris the Mouse gift bag. AccorPlus members enjoy a 15% discount.

A special “Claris, the Chicest Mouse in the House” accommodation package is available every Friday and Saturday night to October 12 from $336 a night (prepaid) in a Superior Room, including an overnight stay, late check-out 1pm, breakfast in Atelier, the Claris High Tea on Saturday, and special amenities designed for children.

Children 11 and under booked with this package enjoy complimentary breakfast and complimentary High Tea. AccorPlus members enjoy a 10% discount.
