Newly renovated Anantara Angkor Resort reopens

The newly renovated Anantara Angkor Resort has reopened as the premier all-suite boutique resort in Siem Reap, Cambodia.

Surrounded by lush tropical foliage, the resort’s 39 suites have undergone a complete upgrade, with design features including teak wood trimmings and sandstone sculptures reflecting a sense of place.

Shaped to resemble Angkor Wat, the resort pays tribute to Khmer culture. At ground level it is reminiscent of a grand Khmer villa, with a central courtyard swimming pool, inspired by an ancient royal bathing pool. Featuring naturally-salted water, its therapeutic properties ensure no chemicals are necessary, while poolside service provides modern comforts.

The Terrace and Premier Terrace Suites feature private plunge pools, while the prestigious Anantara and Sothea Suites feature a private garden, spaciously appointed living area, luxurious bathrooms complete with rain shower, and an en-suite spa room with daily massage. The Sothea also includes a whirlpool Jacuzzi bath.

The one- and two-bedroom Jim Thompson Explorer Suite boasts 178 and 235 square metres, respectively, with imported Thai silk overflowing throughout each suite and draping the furniture in bold colours and lustrous appeal.

The new concept Chi Restaurant and Bar offers progressive Khmer cuisine, featuring a locally inspired menu of indigenous herbs and spices grown onsite and harvested fresh daily from the resort’s very own garden.

Bespoke Dining by Design experiences are also available and include a private chef and butler, a choice of connoisseur menus, and an intimate courtyard setting, or, take your dining experience to hidden temples or countryside rice paddies for true local immersion.

Foodies can also try the Spice Spoons cooking class—join the Chef on his morning market shop, learning about different local foods and flavours along the way before an open-air kitchen cooking class.

Centrally located between downtown, the airport and the temples, Anantara Angkor offers discerning travellers are retreat-like hideaway, just seven-minutes’ drive from the city centre’s charming markets, French colonial quarter and intriguing riverside attractions.

Most notably of all, Siem Reap is home to the stunning Angkor Archaeological Pak—a UNESCO World Heritage Site of ancient Khmer ruins, including the Eighth Wonder of the World, Angkor Wat.

The resort’s ‘Experience Butlers’ apply their expert knowledge to offer guests specially created local experiences. From temple tours and kayaking journeys through the floating villages of Tonlé Sap, to jungle adventures and countryside visits, there are more than 100 uniquely created experiences on offer.

In addition, guests also receive chauffeured roundtrip airport transfers, unlimited private tuk tuk transfers to and from the city centre, and complimentary in-room minibar. Guests staying in the Anantara and Sothea suites will also enjoy exclusive in-suite spa treatments.
