With jaw-dropping scenery adorning both North and South Islands of New Zealand, a wonderful way to get amongst it is on a bicycle. There are now 23 Great Rides across the country with 2,500km of trails that breathe new life into old tracks, roads and railways. With Megan Gale the first ambassador to promote The New Zealand Cycle Trail, she did two of the trails including the trailblazer – the Otago Central Rail Trail and the Timber Trail on the North Island. Other trails that Megan can’t wait to tackle include the Hawke’s Bay Trails, the Rimutaka Cycle Trail around Wellington, the Tasman’s Great Taste Trail in Nelson, the Queenstown Trail and the Clutha Gold Trail – all of which have wonderful sights to see, superb food and wine, and excellent accommodation options.
