New Broken Hill resort now open

Broken Hill Outback Resort has opened today in a bid to address increased demands from overseas travellers to enjoy holidays in country NSW. The resort, opened by the Out of the Ordinary group, features a renovated historic desert pub that presides over the new cabin, caravan and camping park.

The bar and bistro, located in the refurbished Mt Gipps Hotel, will serve up Aussie classics for desert travellers including ice-cold beer and home-made pizza. The pub itself is a landmark with a history dating back to the 1890s. In addition to being a hub for miners, artists and travellers, the pub is a slice of outback history.

Pub centrepiece of new resort
Out of the Ordinary owner Scott Smith says he fell in love with the old desert pub when he first saw it. He said he had a vision to bring the pub back to life as the centrepiece of a vibrant but relaxed outback resort.

“I am delighted the vision is now turning into a reality, with visitors now able to enjoy the ambience of the outback and the charms of this historic hotel just 10 minutes from Broken Hill,” Smith says.

The resort will also feature a fine dining establishment, The Coach House, which will open up in September along with some additional camping and caravan sites. November will see the resort expand even further with 24 king spa cabins and a swimming pool, playground and designated bush trails scheduled for 2019.

Experience the outback in comfort
Smith says the resort will allow travellers to explore the Australian outback with easy access to comfort and luxuries at the end of an exciting day. The resort is a gateway to the Australian outback with plenty of art galleries, festivals and history to enjoy. It is also located close to the Outback Astronomy, which provides extensive views of the night sky devoid of the light pollution of the city.

Surrounded by the rugged Barrier Ranges, 13km east of Broken Hill, the Broken Hill Outback Resort is designed to help visitors experience the essence of the Australian outback in comfort.
