The showstopper

For the ultimate beach club experience, visit the bar INFINITY. Spend the day cocktail-sipping and blissfully lounging on a sunbed or swimming in the glistening infinity-edge pool with chilled beats and a live DJ. The space operates Friday through Sunday from 12pm to 8pm.

Beyond the rooms

When you’re not being pampered or sipping on a cocktail at the Lagoon swim-up bar, enjoy the culinary delights Mindil Beach Casino Resort has to offer – including everyday favourites at The Vue, authentic Italian dishes at il Piatto and fine Asian cuisine at Dragon Court.

Take advantage of the vibrant bar scene with some of the best local bars at your doorstep. Enjoy a vast selection of cocktails at Sandbar – nestled along the shoreline, and enjoy the spectacular views of an iconic Mindil Beach sunset. Head on down to INFINITY – Darwin’s only beachfront infinity pool, which transforms into a beach club between Thursday to Sunday or watch your favourite sporting events live and loud on The Sportsbar’s 311-inch indoor mega screen.

Within a short walk, you can find

The waterfront is only a short Uber ride away and worth a visit. If you’re keen, the resort offers bikes to hire for the hour or the day. Or, for those more adventurous, you can hire scooters to explore the local area. Well-signed walking and jogging tracks border the hotel along the beach, allowing you to explore the stunning coastal area at your leisure.

I wish I could take home

I always enjoy a resort that offers fun activities like biking. It’s not something I partake in when I am at home. The resort bikes were so cute with their baskets that I wanted to take one home.

Dish to dine for

The restaurant choices are one good reason to stay at Mindil Casino Resort; you will be beyond spoilt with choice. I was taken by the classic dishes at Il Piatto, one of the NT’s most popular Italian restaurants in a refined setting overlooking the Arafura Sea. My favourite is spaghetti ai frutti di mare, which is homemade pasta with fresh clams, calamari, mussels, and prawns in a cherry tomato sauce.

Staying in

Mindil Beach Casino Resort is undoubtedly a one-stop destination. It has three restaurants, including Dragon Court, one of Darwin’s most iconic Chinese restaurants. The relaxed, family-friendly atmosphere at The Vue is perfect for a leisurely meal anytime of the day…even a midnight snack. Plus, five bars, a fitness centre, and a casino and entertainment complex are open from 10 am to 4 am.

Stepping out

Explore the Northern Territory with Australia 2001 Travel, which provides personalised small tours with experienced guides. A Day Trip to Litchfield National Park was the highlight of our trip. Michael, the fabulous guide, was a resource of knowledge in the area, and being part of such an intimate group made the day special.

Before booking

The Top End, which includes Darwin, Katherine, Kakadu and Arnhem Land, has a tropical climate with two seasons: Dry and Wet. Each season lasts for about six months. Depending on your travel desires, check what seasons suit you before booking, as the weather can be extreme.

Insiders’ tips

I recommend booking your day trips in advance as they book out quickly. Due to the vulnerable climate on tours, times and dates can be changed at short notice. So consider taking your tours in the first part of your stay to allow for any changes.

If only

I was able to wake up to the stunning sea view each morning and then end the day on the balcony to drink in what has to be the best sunset in the world.
