Taj Safaris, the creators of India’s first luxury wildlife travel circuit in Madhya Pradesh, is set to open its first lodge outside India, Meghauli Serai Jungle Lodge.
Situated in the dramatic landscape of UNESCO World Heritage listed Chitwan National Park in Nepal, the lodge enjoys spectacular views of the park across the river from its prime position on the banks of the Rapti river.
In a land known for its snow peaks, monasteries, temples, and rich history, the park is a real jewel to experience. With its lush vegetation, meandering water bodies and astounding number of wildlife, including the Great Hornbill, Royal Bengal tiger, leopard and the park’s famous Greater one-horned rhinoceros, this natural paradise is one of the most sought after destinations in Nepal.
Immersive wildlife experiences such as safaris on elephant-back or by jeep through the jungle allow visitors to truly appreciate Nepal’s natural beauty, while walks through the local Tharu village offer a glimpse into traditional village life. Thrill seekers will satisfy their thirst for adventure with canoeing on the Rapti river and trekking through the Himalayan foothills, and when its time to relax and unwind, the ideal respite can be found within the lodge’s signature spa or at its tranquil infinity pool, overlooking the river below.
Incorporating local hues into its design and operations for truly sustainable touches, the lodge takes local traditions to luxurious new heights, and features 13 well-appointed rooms with elevated views over the jungle-scape, 16 independent villas each boasting its own private plunge pool, and the plush Rapti Mahal presidential suite.
The lodge is easily accessible from Kathmandu by road or flight, taking a 20-minute flight to Bharatpur airport followed by a 45-minute drive to the lodge, or alternatively, private charters are also available.
