Adventure World has introduced an exclusive new experience to its Rwanda Gorilla packages, Meet the Gorilla Doctors.
Guests will have the unique opportunity to spend half a day at the Mountain Gorilla Veterinary Centre in Ruhengeri in northwest Rwanda, where they can learn about gorilla monitoring, the administration of life-saving medical care, health studies and how veterinary medicine and ecosystem health is taught.
“Nothing is more empowering than education and we are proud to provide those travelling with Adventure World the opportunity to visit and learn about the vitally important conservation work being done to save these magnificent animals”, Adventure World managing director Neil Rodgers says.
Critically endangered for a long time, the mountain gorilla faced an uncertain future, but thanks to the hard work of conservation organisations, these vulnerable primates have bounced back and are expected to reach a population of 1,000 soon.
Guests can experience this amazing optional on several of Adventure World’s Rwandan itineraries, including the three-day Gorillas Through the Mist journey. This three-day tour through Volcanoes National Park (Africa’s oldest national park) includes two nights’ accommodation, many meals, transfers, English speaking guides, park fees and a gorilla trekking permit.
