It’s the floating paradise in Fiji you must see

Immerse yourself in Fijian culture and soak up the traditional South Pacific hospitality we’ve all come to love at the jaw-dropping five-star Fiji Marriott Resort Momi Bay.

Step into the lagoon from your bungalow descending from your private stairs that plunge straight into Momi Bay. Whether you’re seeking a couple’s escape or a family holiday, Fiji Marriott Resort Momi Bay hits all the right tropical notes.

The showstopper

It’s the colours that will strike you the most here. Arched overwater bungalows snake across a cerulean lagoon, and on the other side, a turquoise ocean glistens under a bluer-than-blue sky. Lush palm trees sway in the breeze, which carries the traditional Fijian welcome song Bula Maleya, and with it comes an instant wave of relaxation. And all this less than 35 kilometres from Nadi International Airport on the southwest Fijian coast of Viti Levu.

The room

Rooms offer a sophisticated design with stylish touches and a nod to its tropical surroundings. Choose from Overwater, Lagoon and Ocean Bures that feature incredible oceanfront views and tranquil lagoon waters. Some boast high vaulted ceilings, a private outdoor deck, deluxe bedding and iconic Marriott Pillows, and a spacious spa-like bathroom with a freestanding bathtub and separate walk-in shower. Your private terrace or balcony is fitted with a comfortable daybed or lounge and bistro set.

Beyond the rooms

Days are spent slipping between the three pools –  there is one for kids, one for families, or soak in the adults-only infinity pool. Book a massage in the spa, or simply lounge on your daybed on the private balcony of your bure. For the seasoned surfer, it’s a quick 20-minute boat ride to the world-class surf spot, Cloud Break.

Dishes to dine for

When hunger strikes, you can dine at one of three restaurants. Goji Kitchen & Bar is an all-day restaurant and the main resort restaurant for daily buffet breakfast, live cooking stations and nightly themed buffet dinners, which overlooks the lagoon serving up local delicacies with home grown fruit juices and cocktails.

Fish Bar focuses on seafood and speciality cocktails, with meats also on the menu. While Lagoon House & Bar near the main pool serves Mediterranean favourites including family-friendly pasta and pizza. For tasty light bites, try Lagoon Lounge, while the Fiji Baking Company is your go-to for deli-style snacks, delicious sandwiches and a perfectly crafted barista coffee.

Worth noting – every Wednesday, when you can take a hands-on Fijian cooking class to learn about traditional recipes passed down through generations.

Staying in

Wade into the main pool for a dip and grab a refreshing drink at the swim-up bar, or wind down at sunset at the adults-only infinity pool with a panoramic view of Momi Bay. Take a relaxing walk along the lagoon beach, to soak in the Fiji sunshine and sand between your toes. Ask for a SUP board to frolic through the crystal clear waters for the ultimate resort views.

Surf fanatics love the challenging waves at Namotu Island’s Cloudbreak. Go ziplining on one of the longest ziplines in the world or board a private boat from the resorts jetty to explore Fiji’s vibrant coral reefs.

The family factor

If you are travelling with the family, the resort is an easy 45-minute drive from Nadi International Airport. The kids will be playing at the Turtles Kids’ Club in no time. Here they can learn basket weaving and other traditional Fijian crafts. Fiji Marriott Resort Momi Bay offers the best of both worlds: splash in the lagoon or head to the ocean side to try kayaking. For the older kids, stand-up paddle boarding is hours of fun. There’s even a dedicated kids’ pool with water jets that are always a big hit.
