Marriott leads New York City into digital future

Renaissance-New-York-Midtown-Hotel-3

New York City is set to welcome its first living digital hotel with the opening of Marriott’s Renaissance New York Midtown Hotel in March 2016.

Created with award-winning digital design firm Réalisations Inc., Renaissance will be the city’s first multi-sensory, interactive “living” hotel, complete with corridors, digital artwork, a four-storey LED clock, and a rooftop, all of which change and come to life upon human interaction.

Created with a variety of technologies including reflective wallpaper, motion detectors, projectors and 3D cameras, these intelligent digital displays respond to human movement and change accordingly, ensuring the hotel is visually different on each visit.

Connecting the futuristic vibe with the New York City local scene, the elevator bank will feature specially selected digital images of local artists and neighbourhood experiences, while a virtual concierge will provide information on local cuisine, shopping and entertainment. Once a user steps onto words projected onto the floor, a large screen will allow users to select an activity and location simply by pointing their finger and activating various areas of interest.

Located in the city’s trendy fashion district on 35th Street and Fashion Avenue, Renaissance features 348 rooms including eight suites, free high-speed wireless internet, five meeting rooms, a fitness centre, and Rock & Reilly’s rooftop restaurant.
