The Wish List Issue

Volume 122 – 2024

In This Issue

I’m delighted to introduce myself as the new editor of this beautiful magazine, Australia’s longest-running travel publication. It’s an absolute dream job for someone as enamoured with travel as me. After being hired for the role in late 2023, I started 2024 on a pre-planned, month-long holiday to Nepal and India with my family. The trip was amazing (to say the least!), but it did mean I missed a large chunk of time in putting this issue together. Step in the lovely and incredibly talented Natasha Dragun. Natasha has a long history editing V&T and helped me immensely in getting it to print. I was able to relish my time in Nepal and India, knowing the magazine was in the safest of hands. Tash, thank you for all your work and guidance. I could not have done it without you. Also, a heartfelt thanks to Cathy Wagstaff for trusting me with this stunning publication – I’m determined to make you happy with your decision!

Speaking of trips to India, do not miss Andrew Daddo’s feature on his family’s road-tripping adventure in the country’s colourful north. It’s a great read – as is Aleney de Winter’s poetic take on the untamed beauty of Ireland’s Wild Atlantic Way.

Finally, we’re excited to bring you our Wish List: 31 must-try travel trends for 2024. From marvelling at the stars on an ‘astrotour’ at Uluru to cycling the soon-to-open Trans Dinarica biking route in the culture-rich Balkans, there is truly something for every taste, and we do hope it brings inspiration for your next trip.

On that note, happy travels!
