More than half of research participants surveyed indicated that the cost-of-living crisis has no impact on their 2023 travel plans. In fact, 60% of respondents plan to spend more than $10,000 on their 2023 international excursions. The research also exposed Australians’ desire to engage with wellness and sustainable tourism trends, with 75% ranking leisure and enjoyment as their top reason for travelling this year. This discovery is supported by recent data from Bain & Company that demonstrates spending on luxury goods and experiences grew by around 20% in 2022, with luxury hospitality a key driver of the market.
