Belmond has announced two very special tours with two celebrities – leading Australian chef Luke Mangan and best-selling author Alexander McCall Smith. Luke Mangan will host a culinary journey on 28 October 2016 on board the Eastern & Oriental Express train from Singapore to Bangkok. In Singapore, guests will join Luke for a morning tour of the exotic food market before boarding the train for the three-day, two-night journey. Luke will meet with guests on board as well as serving specially-created menus to guests in the elegant dining cars.
Fans of The No.1 Ladies’ Detective Agency series can join author Alexander McCall Smith on an exclusive safari in Botswana, home of the indefatigable Mme. Precious Ramotse, from 10–16 November 2016. The six-night itinerary will visit Belmond Savute Elephant Lodge in Chobe National Park, Belmond Khwai River Lodge in the Moremi Wildlife Reserve, and Belmond Eagle Island Lodge in the magnificent Okavango Delta, which featured in McCall Smith’s much-loved novel, The Double Comfort Safari Club, and the children’s tale Precious and the Mystery of the Missing Lion. Recently reopened after an almost total rebuild, the lodge offers Africa’s most water-focused safari experience, with activities including motorboat safaris, barge cruises and makoro safaris.
