Just 90-minutes from the Sydney CBD, Lake Macquarie’s Living Smart Festival will light up the southern hemisphere’s largest saltwater lake from 23 to 25 September.
One of Australia’s biggest sustainable-themed events is back and better than ever, packed with festivities to motivate you to live smarter, healthier and cleaner. Following a two-year hiatus, the weekend will feature three distinct events over three days.

Feast for the Senses
If you’re searching for the latest tips and tricks to live a more environmentally conscious lifestyle, some ethical food inspiration, a pre-loved piece to revamp your wardrobe or simply a fun-filled family day out, Living Smart Festival ticks all the boxes.
Kicking off Friday night with a stunning banquet under the diamond sky, Dinner Under The Stars is a vegetarian feast crafted by the clever hands of The Wilderness Chef. Expect sustainably-sourced seasonal dishes over three courses at a long table with like-minded foodies.

Consciously curious
Then on Saturday, the Living Smart Festival explodes with a day of sustainable and conscious living at Speers Point Park. With a stellar line-up of local produce and handmade products, roving performers, and even morning yoga. Plus, workshops with Gardening Australia host Costa Georgiadis.
Over multiple zones, there is activities galore and for all ages. First Nations will be showcasing weaving, art, dance and bush tucker. Green Thumb is the perfect place to exercise your gardening prowess with backyard beekeeping, worm farming and urban gardening. Or don an apron and get to Eat Zone for fermentation classes and sourdough sessions. Crafty sorts will love the Upcycle Zone to discover nifty ways to turn trash into treasure.
While families are also catered too. With a Kids’ Zone filled with arts and crafts, face painting, and even a petting zoo.
Live it up
Come Sunday, Living Together Festival will celebrate Australia’s multicultural communities with workshops and demonstrations, vibrant world music and international cooking classes. Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander culture and language sessions also part of the festivities. All offering an incredible way to immerse in Australia’s incredible heritage.
