Laguna Golf Bintan has celebrated the completion of its extensive golf course upgrade project with the soft opening of its full 8 holes, which saw more than 50 golfers enjoy the new playing experience during its first weekend of operations.
Part of the prestigious Banyan Tree Group, the stunning golf course is now more strategically and visually interesting, offering players a diverse golfing experience, with the 18-hole, par-72 layout defined by winding terrains of forestlands, lagoons, beachfront coconut groves, stunning age-old rock formations and panoramic views of the South China Sea. It is the only golf course on Bintan to feature awe-inspiring beachfront holes on both the front and back nine.
At 6,890 yards off the back tees, there is a mix of challenging holes and some more risk-reward birdie chances, giving variety to the golf course, and golfers must exercise sound strategy to negotiate throughout the round, while at the same time, take a moment to enjoy the beautiful surrounding environment.
Holes 16 and 17 are the highlight of the course, with the game concluding at the signature hole 17, which challenges golfers to tee off from a spectacular natural rock formation perched high above the sea.
Laguna Golf assistant vice president and group golf director, Paul Wilson comments: “The layout of our course in Laguna Bintan is remarkably strong in terms of design and playability, and our main focus of this project has been restoring the green complexes to their original size and structure while giving emphasis to the enhancement of the natural surroundings such as highlighting the beachfront, and accentuating the natural rock formations and dense jungle.”
In addition to the golf course revamp, the newly refurbished Clubhouse and a fleet of new Golf Carts will be unveiled by 1 September 2016.
