Kangaroo Island Odysseys has introduced its new ‘Kangaroo Island Food & Wine Tours’, inviting food, wine and nature lovers to indulge their senses in the best of Kangaroo Island’s fresh produce and fine wine.
Starting on selected dates from September 2017, guests will explore the island with a private tour guide in comfortable, air-conditioned 4-Wheel drives, in small groups of up to eight, visiting the island’s most beautiful beaches, such as Emu Bay, Stokes Bay and Vivonne Bay, as well as a range of attractions.
The tours are seasonal, with different itineraries for Summer/Spring, Autumn and Winter, created to highlight each season’s best food, wine and nature-based experiences.
Experiences include a personalised vineyard and winery tour at ‘The Islander Estate Vineyard’, Bay of Shoals Wines or Dudley Wines, tasting locally distilled Gin and spirits at Kangaroo Island Spirits, sampling a variety of delicious cheese and yoghurts at the Island Pure Sheep Dairy, a visit to Island Beehive for a tour and honey tastings, sampling the island’s freshest oysters at the Kangaroo Island Shellfish Oyster Farm Shed, and a half-day fishing charter.
A unique range of thoughtfully hand-crafted, immersive dining experiences showcase Kangaroo Island’s best seasonal food set against a backdrop of stunning locations.
Enjoy a fig-inspired brunch menu at the ‘Enchanted Fig Tree’ underneath the boughs and leaves of a giant, ancient fig tree planted more than 100 years ago, dine by candlelight on an elegant three-course feast at the ‘Shearers Feast’ inside an 80-year-old family-owned shearing shed, go ‘Table Surfing’ at homes of locals and share a home-cooked meal around the family table, taste the freshest catch cooked over hot coals at ‘The Beach House Taverna BBQ Banquet’, and join a local chef and farmer at his ‘Latitude 36 Farm Kitchen’ for a wholesome three-course gourmet dinner at Sunset Food & Wine.
