After a two-year hiatus, the Bondi Festival is back and better than ever. From July 1 – 17 get set for some playful, personal, and peculiar performances.
You better add Bondi Festival to your ‘Things To Do’ list. This boutique arts and performance festival will take place in various locations across Bondi in the month of July. The three-week program is jam-packed with talented artists in immersive performances, comedy mashups, mystery bus hops, magical acts, pub trivia, storytelling experiences, and first dates live on stage.

Did someone say comedy mashup and magic?
The first week starts off with a bang with an opening weekend performance of AbuSalim, a gender-bending comedy mash-up created by Randa Sayed and hosted by Bedlambs Barbershop.
Like a little mystery and magic? Each Friday and Saturday night, hop on a mystery bus and be shuttled away to an undisclosed location for a hilarious and terrifying theatrical seance from magician Harry Milas.
Pub trivia & First Dates
During weeks two and three, add contemporary immersive performances to your calendar. Artist Joel Bray of ‘I Liked It, But…” transforms the Bondi Bowlo into a pub trivia night.
Sparky the Library Van at Bondi Beach will be home to ‘Exquisite Corpse’ – a one-on-one storytelling experience. The student becomes the teacher in this role reversal rendition – young people will sit you down and read a story from ‘once upon a time’.
Can’t sit still? Discover the magic of North Bondi through the eyes of Galilee Catholic Primary School students on a walking tour. Curated by collaboration with adult artists, the students will take you on a unique journey.

Multi-award-winning performer, theatre-maker and producer Bron Batten takes modern romance to the next level in her Onstage Dating phenomenon. As she sets the scene, negotiating first dates live on stage, play witness or volunteer to take part in what promises to be an ab-inducing workout of a show.
A sensory side dish
Not a fan of crowds? You can still take part in the festive action by downloading Acqua Profonda: A Trilogy. This aquatic audio is made to be listened to by the seaside. Crafted by three Sydney-based writers, and scored by composer Oliver John Cameron, you’ll be transported into three different watery worlds. Just pop on your earphones and be guided by the provided instructions. If you can’t be by the beach, any body of water will do!

A wheely good time!
There’s no Bondi Festival without the iconic Bondi Vista Ferris Wheel! Returning this year to provide riders with a bird’s eye view of Bondi Beach every day of the festival.
Or swap surfboards for skates and glide your way around Bondi Festival Ice Rink. Whether it’s some quality family time or a first date skate, it’ll be a pretty cool way to spend your time.
Plus, an extra special delight to this year’s program is the debut of Bondi Festival Local. Local venues have the opportunity to showcase their own arts events, with a little something from music gigs to foodie events. Not sure what that will entail? You’ll just have to go and see for yourself.
