Intrepid Travel is expanding its global menu to include food adventures in more than 25 countries, including two Middle East food tours in 2018.
The Real Food Adventures itineraries offer travellers the opportunity to savour authentic food experiences in Europe, Asia, the Americas, and the Middle East.
“While the Middle East is often celebrated for its historical significance, we are keen to show travellers why they should have Iran, Jordan, Israel and many more on their radar as emerging foodie hotspots,” Intrepid Travel regional director Brett Mitchell says.
“There’s something great about discovering a culture through its local cuisine and something as simple as sharing a meal can really bring people together and create lifelong memories.”
In 2018, Intrepid Travel will begin its first Real Food Adventures in Iran and Jordan, with the 10-day Iran itinerary running from May to November 2018, where guests will travel from Tehran to Shiraz, Esfahan and Yazd.
Travellers will taste mouth-watering ancient cuisine, including succulent street kebabs, saffron shops, chewy baklava, spiced meat, and tasty stew and biryani to share with a local in their home.
The six-day Jordan adventure runs from March to November 2018, with visits to Amman, the Dead Sea, Petra and Wadi Rum.
This tour highlights Amman’s world-leading felafels, a traditional Bedouin feast cooked beneath the ground, and a Levantine-themed picnic on the banks of the Dead Sea.
Other unforgettable 2018 food tours in South Korea, India, Japan and Peru all include immersive experiences like cooking traditional food in a local’s home.
