Visit California and Air New Zealand are bringing Australia’s first ever digital colouring wall to Melbourne this weekend, followed by Sydney on 27 and 28 January.
The California-themed giant interactive digital colouring wall will light up the two cities this month to celebrate Visit California’s new family travel campaign, Kidifornia.
“California is the ultimate playground for kids and families, so we’ve given it a new name: Kidifornia”, Visit California president and chief executive officer Caroline Beteta says.
“Skiing through our mountain resorts, running free in our beautiful national parks, discovering the magic of our theme parks – there are endless opportunities for kids and families to have fun and dream big in Kidifornia.”
The Kidfornia colouring wall will go live in Melbourne’s Queensbridge Square on Saturday 20 and Sunday 21 January from 12pm until 6pm, before arriving to Bondi Beach Pavilion on Saturday 27 January followed by Sydney’s Overseas Passenger Terminal at Circular Quay on Sunday 28 January.
Kids and their families are invited to digitally colour their way through 100 California-themed illustrations by using the tablets provided on-site, or linking directly to kidifornia.com.au on their own smartphones or tablets. The finished illustrations will appear on the giant colouring screen along with the colourer’s name, creating a real-time California mural featuring family holiday ideas and inspiration.
Participants are welcome to colour-in as many illustrations as they like, and will be automatically placed in the running to win a family holiday to California. There will be one holiday up for grabs per weekend, plus lots of smaller prizes throughout the day. Would-be participants who can’t make it down to the live events can get creative from 20 January until 28 February via the online version of the colouring wall at kidifornia.com.au, with one more family trip to California to be won.
“With this live interactive experience, we’re encouraging Australia’s youngest dreamers to get to know Kidifornia’s diverse offerings for themselves, and bring their parents along for the ride.”
Offering a variety of family-friendly in-flight features, Air New Zealand was the clear choice to partner with Visit California on bringing more families to the Golden State.
“With our award-winning family Skycouch, and library of children’s movies, TV shows, audiobooks and games offered on our inflight entertainment, families can enjoy a relaxed travel experience on their next Californian adventure,” Air New Zealand regional general manager Australia, Kathryn Robertson says.
Visit California invites kids of all ages to share their own California dreams and adventures using #Kidifornia on Twitter (@VisitCA), Instagram (@VisitCalifornia) and Facebook.
