Pier One Sydney Harbour’s sought-after winter pop-up ‘Igloos on the Pier’ is back and reimagined for 2020. Opening from 19 June until 30 August, this year, Pier One has raised the bar quite literally, with Igloos now perched in suites overlooking the amazing harbour for a private and exclusive igloo experience.
Guests can choose between three tailored experiences: an igloo sleepover under the stars, a luxe hot tub igloo, or a bespoke proposal experience.
In the Dream Igloo Suite, you’ll find yourself lying beneath a canopy of lanterns and the glistening night sky, surrounded by glamorous, cosy furnishings. Set on the balcony of your own private suite, you have the luxury to lounge on the daybed as you take in one of Sydney’s best sunsets, enjoy the harbour views of Walsh Bay and indulge in fresh seafood, indulgent desserts, share platters, and drinks.
If you choose the Hot Tub Igloo, set on a balcony over 5 metres above the pier, you’ll be provided with your own private bathroom with bathrobes and towels, a delightful spread of food and drink, and cosy lounges to retreat to after you’re finished in the tub.
If you’re wanting to go all out to pop the all-important question, the Proposal Suite Igloos are also making a return, where every detail has been planned to create a dreamy winter proposal.

To complement the Igloo experience, Pier One are offering three luxe hampers that can be ordered ahead of your stay:
- Cheese & Charcuterie Hamper x The Gantry: The Gantry has curated the best produce from our fire-affected friends in the South Coast and Southern Highlands to bring you three local cheeses, a selection of cured meats, artisan bread, accompaniments and two ‘cocktails in a jar’ for a relaxing afternoon. Serves 2 guests.
- Seafood Market Basket: Indulge in Australian seafood, fresh from the market, with a seafood hamper carefully selected by hatted chef Thom Gorringe. Enjoy Balmain bugs, cooked Prawns, salmon rillettes, fresh Australian Rock Oysters, artisan bread, and accompaniments. Serves 2 guests.
- After Dark Hamper x The Gantry: For an indulgent assortment of treats to cap off your meal, or simply a new take on afternoon tea, enjoy a selection of desserts by hatted chef Thom Gorringe. Ingredients have been sourced from bushfire impacted regions and have been paired with the knowledge from his time working in the Southern Highlands. Serves 2 guests.
The hire fee for each igloo is $200, with a minimum spend of $400 on food and beverages. Two-and-a-half-hour sessions are available daily at midday, sunset and twilight. Those who book the evening session have the option to stay the night in a Pier One suite for an additional charge.
