I Would Drive 500 Miles

Scotland’s answer to Route 66, the brand new tourist route North Coast 500 showcases the best of the Northern Highlands. Perfect for cars, motorbikes cyclists and walkers alike, the route is arguably one of the most scenic in Scotland. From Inverness, weave along the west coast to Applecross and then northwards towards the bustling towns of Torridon and Ullapool and on to some of the most northerly coastal points in Scotland, passing by Caithness and John O’Groats before heading back to Inverness via Dingwall. Along the way marvel at the Old Man of Storr, a 60m high sea stack and the mystical limestone Smoo Cave. Stop at spectacular beaches such as Achmelvich and Dornoch, stunning mountain ranges like Ben Hope and Suilven and mesmerising castles including the fairytale Dunrobin and the striking ruins of Ardvreck.
