Hayman Island by InterContintental welcomes first guests
Following a $135 million refurbishment, Hayman Island by InterContinental officially welcomed its first guests at the beginning of the month. They will be the first to experience the ultra-luxury resort, which is found at the northern most point in the Whitsunday Islands.
Everything about Hayman Island by InterContinental has been designed to offer guests a whole new level of immersive luxury. The Hayman Spa offers mediation and healing practices, as well as signature treatments using products from premium Australian brand Sodashi. These include the one-of-a-kind Marine Treatment, which is inspired by the Whitsundays and uses quality marine ingredients like Australian green clay and kelp.
The resort is the closest private island to the Great Barrier Reef, which guests can explore with guided snorkel or diving excursions. Hayman Island by InterContinental also offers guests breathtaking views of the Whitsundays by air with helicopter or seaplane trips.
The Planet Trekkers kids club ensures younger guests get to have equally exciting experiences, with engaging and educational activities centred around the island’s surrounds and the Great Barrier Reef, as well as junior meditation classes.
One of the biggest changes InterContinental has brought to the resort has been the introduction of five distinct eateries and bars. These include breakfast spot Pacific; Bar Fifty for classic cocktails; pool-side AQUA; Italian-inspired Amici Trattori; and the pan-Asian Bam Bam.
Sustainability and environmental-awareness is at the forefront of the Hayman Island by InterContinental experience. As well as educational initiatives for guests about the island’s surrounds and Great Barrier Reef, they will also be supplied with reef-safe sunscreen. Guests also receive a complimentary reusable water bottle upon check-in, and are encouraged to refill it at the plethora of water stations found throughout the resort.
