Hainan Airlines and Virgin Australia have joined forces, with their respective frequent flyer loyalty programs, Fortune Wings Club and Velocity, officially commencing a cooperative effort.
The relationship covers point accumulation, award tickets redemption, and reciprocal elite benefits, offering members an enhanced travel experience overall.
Members of the Fortune Wings Club flying Virgin Australia between and within Australia and New Zealand and Greater China (mainland China, Hong Kong, Macau and Taiwan), can accrue Fortune Wings status qualifying points and award points. Conversely, Virgin Australia’s frequent flyer members may also accrue Velocity points when flying any of the four member airlines of the Fortune Wings Club; Hainan Airlines, Hong Kong Airlines, Capital Airlines and Tianjin Airlines.
In August, details on the award tickets redemption and reciprocal elite benefits will be announced. At that time, affiliates of either program will be able to redeem their points for award tickets on the other party’s flights, and elite members will enjoy a variety of privileges, including priority check-in, additional free baggage allowance, lounge access and priority boarding, when traveling on the other airline’s flight.
