Gypsy Bride Market. Mogila, Bulgaria

Vending Machines. Tokyo, Japan

If you’re hard-pressed to find a blushing bride, you might consider a visit to the Gypsy Bride Market in Mogila, where thousands (yes, thousands!) of young Roma women are paraded about the outdoor market by their parents in an effort to attract a (hopefully rather wealthy) beau to be. The event attracts more than 2,500 people from all over Bulgaria, and takes place on the first Saturday after the orthodox Easter Fast (known locally as Horse Easter). The right to woo a would-be bride is said to be north of €3,000, so members of the broken hearts club had better show up with bulging wallets.
