GRECA brings the Mediterranean to Brisbane

GRECA is here. Jonathan Barthelmess has launched his new Brisbane venue at the Heritage Smith Wharves precinct underneath the Story Bridge.  GRECA is a modern interpretation of a Greek taverna with a menu focused on sharing, communal eating and Mediterranean generosity. The menu itself celebrates local produce and pays homage to the north coast’s warm climate. On offer are bowls of mussels and pipis, whole spiced prawns, platters of organic braised veggies, house-made dolmades and lamb skewers. The food is cooked over woodfire and in GRECA’S stone oven to embrace the timeless simplicity of Greek flavours.
GRECA also offers a deep wine list and cocktail offerings which promises to satisfy every palate, plate and budget. Barthelmess says, “We’ve spent a lot of time finessing the menu for GRECA to bring the best of the Mediterranean to the north. With a strong focus on local producers and fresh seafood, we’re looking forward to bringing the GRECA flavour and personality to the Howard Smith Wharvesprecinct.”
The interior is designed by renowned interior architect George Livissianis and is complete with an open kitchen and fire pit. Tables reach out into the open air, with timber components brought to life with Mediterraneanwhites, polished concrete floors and simple furnishings.
