In response to overwhelming demand for the Ghan Expedition in 2016, Great Southern Rail has announced an extended six-month season, opening up more departures for its 2017/18 journeys.
The Ghan Expedition will be available on all Darwin-Adelaide departures from 3 May to 25 October in 2017, and will showcase the heart of Australia on an epic outback adventure and excursions in Katherine, Alice Springs and Coober Pedy across four days and three nights.
Offering travellers unmatched access to many of the country’s iconic outback destinations, guests can choose to engage in a number of unique and immersive experiences, such as cruise the ancient Nitmiluk Gorge in Katherine, take a scenic flight over Uluru, enjoy an outback dinner in Alice Springs, explore the underground opal mining town of Cobber Pedy, and more.
Great Southern Rail will also introduce seasonal fares for the 2017/18 season, with high, shoulder and low seasonal fares for both The Ghan and Indian Pacific offering a variety of choice and savings for travellers.
In addition, more journey highlights will be launched from 1 April 2017, and will include a new morning experience on the Nullabor Plain for all Indian Pacific eastbound journeys, and greater choice for travellers with up to six Off Train Excursions available at selected stops.
