Gourmet Escape: food, wine and music in WA

The “greatest food event on earth” (according to Marco Pierre White) is back again this year. Western Australia Gourmet Escape presented by Westpac, which Pierre White has gone on to describe as “life-changing”, returns from 8 – 17 November. This year, the food festival will highlight and be held in three distinct regions of Western Australia: Perth, the Swan Valley and Margaret River.

International food legends appearing at Gourmet Escape 2019 include David Chang, Danny Bowien, Amanda Cohen, Garima Arora and Pierre White himself. And of course, there will also be a host of local talent like Alla Wolf-Tasker, Jock Zonfrillo, Josh Niland and Seth James. The festival promises to be a feast for all senses, with a solid music program too headlined by Australian chart-toppers The Rubens.

Some of our picks for events to check out at Gourmet Escape 2019 include:

Gourmet Feast in the Valley

This event launches the festival’s first weekend, with a range of family-friendly entertainment served alongside artisanal produce and exciting culinary experiences. Visiting chefs include Marco Pierre White and Jess Pryles and Christian Stevenson of DJ BBQ.

Dining by Twilight at Margaret River’s Secret Garden presented by Seedlip

The popular event returns this year, with New York’s Amanda Cohen and Western Australia’s George Cooper hosting a vegetable degustation using produce grown on Cooper’s farm.

Estate-to-Plate: A Locavore Experience at Voyager Estate

Ray Adriansyah of Locavore, Bali and Santiago Fernandez from Voyager Estate will be teaming up to craft a dinner that’s created from 100 per cent local produce. Being held on Voyager’s grounds also means a range of the winemaker’s wines will also be served alongside dinner.
