Auckland’s hotly anticipated new SO/ Auckland has opened at 67 Customs Street East at the site of the former Reserve Bank.
The new hotel showcases the funky designs of renowned kiwi fashion innovator, WORLD. The volcanic nature of New Zealand’s ancient lands inspired the designs of WORLD which they present as an individual and bold designer lifestyle hotel. The building pays homage to the natural beauty of New Zealand and the history of the building itself.
The volcanic theme reaches into the 130 guestrooms. Guests can choose from Vapour, Liquid or Solid design styles for their room. Additionally, each guest room contains a further choice of city or harbour views alongside a complimentary non-alcoholic mini bar, Wi-Fi, a flat screen television, in-room technology, luxury bath and a separate rain-shower.
“We’re ecstatic to finally open the doors to Auckland’s most audacious hotel,” said SO/ Auckland General Manager Stephen Gould. “It’s been an exciting journey with the global SO team since 2011 to prepare for opening including two years of immersion with the brand at SO/ Bangkok. Every touch of a SO/ hotel is unique to its location and thanks in large part to our signature designer WORLD, we have unlocked a destination truly unique to our shores,” he said.
SO/ Auckland will be home to a new 15th-floor restaurant, Harbour Society, run by French Chef, Marc De Passorio. Marc was the former owner of Michelin-starred restaurant L’Esprit de la Violette. He explains how he fell in love with the land, scenery and local produce of New Zealand. Also onsite is the HI-SO rooftop bar with views of Waitemata Harbour and Rangitoto Island.
Indulgent spa treatments are available at the SO/ Spa. Guests can experience innovative treatments such as Himalayan detox therapy, Tibetan sound healing, chakra balancing and peel-off chlorella masks
Rooms begin at $469NZD (approx. $440AUD) per night.
