Frenchman’s Farm, Tasmania

For a rural getaway of the most fabulous kind,
head to the brand new Frenchman’s River in Tasmania. Lovingly built by Posie Graeme-Evans, creator of the much loved TV series McLeod’s Daughters, on her property near Cygnet, take your pick of two wonderful self-contained retreats.

The Writers House, a rebuilt Apple Pickers Cottage, offers one bedroom and one bathroom plus spacious living area, deck and pretty garden, while the Helmsman’s House has two bedrooms, two bathrooms and vast living spaces leading out to a limestone terrace.

Each house has original Tasmanian artworks (from Posie and her husband Andrew’s collection), and interesting books, plus free WiFi and a Bose sound system.

Also, there’s a chef’s kitchen, with a well-stocked fridge and pantry in each house providing seasonal fruit and vegetables, Tasmanian cheeses, wine, local artisan bread, organic eggs, bacon and other assorted goodies.
