Epic new water splash park opens in the Hunter Valley

The Hunter Valley has a hot new attraction – and no, it’s not a winery. It’s an awesome pink and purple Water Splash Park designed especially for kids.

In a bid to target families, The Crowne Plaza Hunter Valley has opened the biggest hotel water park the wine region has ever seen.

The Water Splash Park, designed and built by White Water Australia, is over two storeys high, complete with an assortment of slides, flutes, showers, water cannons and jets.

There’s something for kids of all ages, and even adults young at heart. Bound to be a hit is the “Happy Berry Bucket,” releasing 1200 litres of water every eight minutes.

“The design and colour theme of bold pink and purple puts a smile on the faces of everyone who sees it,” said James Corbett, managing director of White Water Australia.

The best part is, the water is heated. Meaning, kids can enjoy the splash park all year round.

Family-friendly accommodation

The new Water Splash Park isn’t the only thing enticing families to the Hunter Valley.

Crowne Plaza Hunter Valley offers a range of facilities and activities for kids, including a mini-train, carousel, a converted tug boat, the Water Dragons kids club, pony rides and the new Hunter Valley Kids Cottage.

The rest of the family can unwind at the renowned Ubika Spa or beside one of the two resort pool. There’s even an 18-hole championship golf course, a range of restaurants and a brewery on site.

Dr Jerry Schwartz, owner of the Crowne Plaza Hunter Valley, is hoping these new facilities will attract a larger flow of family tourists to the region.

“The Hunter Valley is perhaps seen more as a destination for adults wanting to go to wineries, play golf or attend conferences,” Dr Schwartz said. “We’ve transformed the Crowne Plaza Hunter Valley into a resort for both discerning adults and children.”

“The missing ingredient in the resort’s inventory was a water park, and I’m pleased to say this has really added something substantial to the Hunter Valley’s tourism attractions.”

It turns out Hunter Valley Wine Country is quite kid-friendly after all.
