Star Wars fans should get ready to plan a holiday to Florida as Disney reveals that reservations for its highly anticipated hotel, Star Wars: Galactic Starcruiser, will open later this year.
In the lead up to its official opening in 2021 at Walt Disney World, Disney has hyped up the hotel stay to be an all-immersive experience unlike any other. Guests will become the heroes of their own Star Wars adventure as they live aboard the Halycon starcruiser for two-days and two-nights.
Upon arrival, visitors will be met at a terminal (similar to a cruise terminal) before being guided into a “launch pod” that will simulate the experience of blasting off into space.
Activities and accommodation
Once ‘on-board’ guests will then get to wander through the atrium and participate in activities like lightsaber training, learning the navigation and defence systems in the bridge, or enjoying a drink in the stylish Silver C lounge.
The rooms are also designed to look like spacecraft cabins and can sleep up to five guests. Some even feature bunk beds similar to what Chewy used in the movies.
“Everything in the spaceship wants to reinforce that feeling of you’re on a star cruiser, in a galaxy far, far away,” said Ann Morrow Johnson, executive producer for Walt Disney Imagineering. Even the windows will reflect views of outer space.
However, it’s not all indoors. While continuing the illusion, guests will get to go on a land excursion to the Black Spire Outpost on planet Batuu at Disney World’s Galaxy Edge – an expansive Star Wars-themed park.
Details about the cost are yet to be revealed; by the sounds of it, the experience won’t be cheap but for avid Star Wars fans it will be a once-in-a-lifetime stay in a galaxy far, far away.
