Luxury in the NT at Cicada Lodge

Nitmiluk National Park, Cicada Lodge, Northern Territory, Do the NT

Cicada Lodge, a 100 per cent Indigenous-owned property right on the riverfront of the stunning Nitmiluk National Park in the heart of Northern Australia’s Timeless North, represents a sanctuary of elegant comfort in architect-designed, culturally sensitive accommodation.

Designed for the sophisticated traveller looking for an authentic Indigenous and natural Australian experience, Cicada Lodge welcomes guests in Indigenous traditions and history. The traditional owners – the Jawoyn people – and their knowledge of the local flora and fauna, as well as the ancient stories of creation and Jawoyn life, will enable visitors to have a taste of this northernmost point.

The lodge has just 18 rooms, and each room offers views out across the distinct sandstone country above the gorge – lush gullies full of flora inhabiting giant cracks in the gorge walls, and broad valleys meandering through both the high and low country.

Each room features Indigenous artwork from local artists – the rich colours blending with and complementing the more modern design and fittings, while the ancient stories within the paintings weave the modern with the traditional to create a unique blend that is Cicada Lodge.

Visitors to Cicada Lodge can experience and enjoy a dining adventure with dishes combining traditional elements and incredible flavours from the region incorporated into a fresh, contemporary menu.

A stay at the Cicada Lodge is further enhanced with the opportunity to experience the ancient landscapes of Nitmiluk National Park. Guests can fly by helicopter to remote locations to swim in a crystal clear waterfall; be dropped at the top of the Gorge system and canoe down; fly to remote rock art sites with an Indigenous guide to interpret images painted thousands of years ago; or fly low over wildlife in the wilderness of southern Arnhem Land or up over the escarpment to experience the power of Kakadu from the air.
