The world’s largest cruise line, Carnival Cruise Line, has announced that Carnival Splendor will join its Australian fleet next year.
Ideal for family-friendly, fun holidays, the 3,900-guest ship will arrive into Sydney Harbour in December 2019 on her maiden voyage, becoming the newest and largest ship to be home ported year-round in Australia.
“We’ve had over 800,000 Australians cruise with Carnival since we launched in Australia just five years ago – a number that would fill the Sydney Cricket Ground 17 times over,” Carnival Cruise Line president Christine Duffy says.
“The arrival of Carnival Splendor to Sydney represents a 66 percent capacity increase for Carnival Cruise Line in Australia, meaning we will be in the best position to give even more Australians the opportunity to enjoy the fun of a Carnival cruise.”
As part of Carnival Cruise Line’s partnership and support for The Children’s Hospital at Westmead, Carnival also announced six-year-old Matilda Jenkins, a patient at the hospital, as the first Goddaughter of a Carnival ship.
Matilda was officially welcomed into the Carnival family as she was formally announced as the Goddaughter of Carnival Splendor. The momentous occasion took place in Sydney today onboard sister ship Carnival Spirit, which was recently announced as Australia’s favourite year-round cruise ship, as rated by Australian travellers.
Prior to commencing her homeport down under, Carnival Splendor will undergo a major upgrade which will include a new waterpark and new dining experiences, specially personalised to cater to the tastes of Australian guests.
She will sail year-round from Sydney with bookings for her 2019 sailings opening March this year.
