Bridges of Paris

In the age of e-books and Kindles it’s comforting to know that there is still a market for coffee table books. There are 37 bridges across the Seine in Paris and American photographer Michael Saint James profiles each one in his sumptuous 280-page hardcover masterpiece.

During the year he spent photographing the Bridges of Paris Michael Saint James discovers that many of the modern city’s rituals – such as courtship, street art, busking, weddings and swimming in the summer – take place on or near one of these wonderful bridges; he records the ebb and flow of Parisian life, seen from its historic bridges, in a blog which accompanies this book. Each bridge provides a valuable insight into the flamboyant history of Paris, from Roman times to the present day.
