Every year Travel + Leisure asks readers to share their opinions about the best travel experiences around the globe including, the top hotels, resorts, cities, islands, tour operators and more. The answers are then compiled to create the annual ‘World’s Best Awards’ which were released earlier this month after the survey closed on 2 March.
However, with most of the winning locations off-limits in the foreseeable future due to COVID-19, we’re taking particular interest in the Australian and New Zealand destinations that made the cut. Particularly, the top five cities, resorts and hotels which, according to the results, are guaranteed to be worth a visit now that restrictions are easing.
Between the two countries, Sydney, Melbourne and Perth were voted the top three cities to visit respectively, with voters taking into account sights and landmarks, culture, cuisine, friendliness, shopping, and overall value. Unsurprisingly, these cities also dominated the top city hotels to visit across both countries, with COMO The Treasury, Perth taking out the top spot. As for resort hotels, New Zealand placed in three of the top five spots with The Farm at Cape Kidnappers, Hawke’s Bay ranked number one.
Here’s what made Australia and New Zealand’s top destinations:
1. COMO The Treasury, Perth
2. The Langham Sydney
3. Park Hyatt Sydney
4. The Langham Melbourne
