Touted as one of the biggest and most highly anticipated openings for 2017, Bawah Private Island will open in August 2017 as the ultimate island hideaway in Southeast Asia.
As the epitome of natural luxury, the private island retreat is comprised of five pristine islands set amongst three crystal clear lagoons, and is part of the untouched Anambas archipelago in Indonesia, just two hours from Singapore.
Accessible via a ferry from Singapore to Batam, followed by a private seaplane to Bawah, the tropical paradise hideaway is nestled amidst 300-acres of lush natural landscape surrounded by 13 pristine beaches.
Allowing a maximum of 70 guests on the island at any one time, Bawah will feature 35 eco-designed villas, which will include 21 Beach Villas boasting sea views, 11 Water Villas with dusk to dawn vistas, and three Garden Villas nestled amongst lush tropical greenery.
Each villa features a beautifully appointed bedroom, spacious bathroom and a relaxing living area with incredible views across the lagoon, while attention to detail and unique finishes are prevalent throughout.
Public spaces include a treetop ‘Club House’ with a viewing balcony, a yoga pavilion, a beach-fronted infinity pool and a spa offering treatments that blend local techniques with exclusive products.
An array of guest experiences in harmony with the surrounding nature will be on offer, including snorkelling in pristine waters and hiking through its untouched forest, with trees as high as 80 meters high.
With a focus on sustainability, Bawah’s strong commitment to preserve and protect its 300-acres of natural environment is reflected in all areas of its construction, with every step of the construction and building process done by hand due to a strict no heavy machinery on the island policy.
As an official marine conservation area, fishing, anchoring and collection of marine life is forbidden, allowing for fish and corals to flourish in the pristine lagoons, and the island’s flora and fauna is abundant thanks to a firm stance against the use of pesticides.
Striking the perfect balance of eco-luxury, Bawah will aim to create a harmonious flow between nature and modernity, while upholding its strong sustainable approach towards the resort and its natural surroundings.
